A writing collaboration between Modus Fire's Tom Fisher and their producer Koby Geddes at Villain audio, this fun and freaky track is about BATMAN! You heard right - the musical tone screamed of EVIL GENIUS, so Tom leaned into it and wrote these comic-inspired lyrics and Danny-Elman-esque horn lines over Koby's guitar ideas. TOXICITY is a song about addiction in all its forms, from serious substance abuse down to the smaller addictions we all face in this modern technological age. It’s an upbeat ska-punk banger; a little less technical than Modus Fire’s usual riff-laden prog-punk, mostly to make space for the rap-like vocals: they’re full of rhythmic tricks, poetic poignancy and that little bit of flair that leads listeners to want to study the lyrics and learn the flow. It’s got a dance beat, handclaps, and a subtle rock organ accoutrement that add up to a textured, retro ska-punk party tune, at home on ska, pop and punk playlists alike.
